Giving and Receiving (encore episode)

Welcome to the Safer VRS podcast and thank you for joining us. In this episode, I want to talk about the reciprocity of life and the importance of giving and receiving. This concept is not new, and I've been focusing on it for the past few years. It's something I've learned through a Mayan ancient wisdom called Ayni, which teaches us that the purpose of human life is to serve, show compassion, and help others. This is something I've embraced in my own life, from my 20-year commitment to serve in the church, to my work in the fire service, and now in the world of vacation rentals and safety.

But it's not just about giving, it's also about receiving. I realized that I was a good giver, but not such a good receiver. I would often refuse offers of help or gifts, and I realized that by not fully receiving, I was missing out on an opportunity for growth and connection with others. So in the past few years, I've worked on being more open to receiving, and it's made a big difference in my life.

I encourage you to think about the reciprocity of life and how you can both give and receive in your own life. Whether it's through acts of service, showing compassion to others, or simply being open to receiving help and support when it's offered, we can all play a part in creating a more connected and compassionate world.
