The Revised ABC's
In this episode of Safer VRS podcast, I'll be discussing the ABCs of human behavior and how they relate to safety. As you may know, behavior is what we do, consequences are what happen because of our behavior, and antecedents are what trigger the behavior. It's important to understand how our past learnings influence our behavior, which is often driven by our subconscious mind.
The ABCs - Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence - are a shorthand explanation for human behavior created by Aubrey Daniels, a behavioral scientist.
Throughout this episode, we'll explore key topics such as the ABCs of human behavior and how they relate to safety, the role of past learnings in shaping behavior, and how antecedents can trigger behavior. I'll also emphasize the power of controls and procedures in promoting safety.
Overall, this episode offers unique insights into how we can better contextualize behavior in relation to safety. By understanding the ABCs and how our subconscious mind influences behavior, we can take steps to promote safer behavior in both the workplace and our personal lives.
